Welcome To Used Caravans For Sale!

Looking for used caravans for sale?  Well if you are, then you are someone that appreciates the possibilities that a caravan offers.  I’ve had my trusty caravan now for over 7 years and it’s still going strong!  I’ve had many days of pleasure in some very nice locations.

Nothing beats being able to up and leave whenever you feel like getting away from the toil of everyday life.  You can almost go anywhere you want and there are some wonderful, peaceful nature locations where you can safely set up your caravan for a few days.

To take a caravan holiday is very cheap, but to actually buy one isn’t quite so cheap.  So many people search for used caravans for sale to help them get onto the caravan band wagon.  You can find various models for sale and we will review some of them on our site, but if you are looking for a second hand one, then there are a few things that you need to look out for.

First and foremost should of course be…how does it look?  If it looks tatty and neglected then the chances are it’s not just the paintwork that’s suffering.  You want to find something that looks ok, a bit of paint peeling of here and there is ok, that can easily be fixed.  In fact you might want to repaint your caravan anyway to your personal taste.

Once you’ve found some used caravans for sale whether it be online or in a local newspaper, the next thing to do is arrange a viewing.  Check the interior……..unless you are specifically planning on doing a restoration job then you want something half decent.  If it’s got built in seats then often the fabric is worn through, but this can be easily and cheaply fixed so don’t concern yourself with that too much.

You should also check the appliances like, water, toilet, electrical circuits etc…..ask the owner to hook up the power to their truck so that you can check everything; sorting out electrical problems can be a real pain in the butt, and expensive.  Also check the condition of any fitted cupboards and beds.

If everything in the interior checks out ok then give it a thorough inspection outside.  Check the general condition of the body and paint work, with particular attention to any rust patches or damage.  Minor problems can be fixed easily so don’t let that put you off.  You should also check the construction of the walls, are they stapled together or sealed with glue also?  They need to be sealed properly to keep the water out, resealing it yourself can be done, but preferably avoided.

If the exterior checks out then next look underneath the caravan, it’s worth taking the time to properly examine the parts that can’t normally be seen, take a torch along with you as you’ll probably need it.  Check the condition of the wheels as well, tyres are easily replaced so don’t worry if they are worn.  The main thing to look out for underneath is corrosion on structural points, excessive corrosion should make you think twice, as you will need to have some welding done most likely.

Check the tow hook as well, make sure it’s in good working order and free from corrosion.

There are lots of used caravans for sale so don’t think you have to jump at the first one you see if it’s not exactly what you’re looking for, but on the other hand don’t miss out on a bargain!

Your caravan will be an investment that will serve you for years to come and provide so many days and weeks of pleasurable holiday time for you and all the family.  So take your time to look at all the used caravans for sale and make your choice wisely!
